Nadia Celis, Director and Host
She is a writer and researcher of Caribbean literature and culture, and a full professor at Bowdoin College. She is the author of numeorus articles and the books Crónica de un amor terrible: La historia secreta de la novia devuelta en la muerte anunciada de García Márquez (2023) and La rebelión de las niñas: El Caribe y la “conciencia corporal” (2015).

Lisa Bartfai, Co-producer
Lisa Bartfai is a radio journalist, editor, and translator recognized for her work on narrative series about literary and cultural figures, such as the podcasts Hannah Arendt: Between Worlds and Dead Writers. Her reports have been featured in the Columbia Review of Journalism's “Best Journalism of 2020: Covering Racial Justice.” In 2021, she won second place in the “Excellence in Features” award from the Society for Features Journalism in the best podcast category.

Jenny Rodríguez-Peña, Co-Producer
Jenny Rodríguez-Peña is a producer, journalist, and editor with an MBA in Cultural Enterprises and Institutions. She has extensive experience in public and private cultural management, as well as research on the use and consumption of the arts and culture. Her radio production projects include creating and hosting the podcasts Cultura que Ladra: artes y gestión cultural iberoamericana, Libros al Aire: letras convergentes España-Latinoamérica, and La Séptima región, a podcast series about Colombian migrants abroad. She is also the founder and director of Crisol de Culturas SAS (2017-2022).

¿Who is Our Host?
NADIA CELIS is a unique voice among specialists in the work of García Márquez, who makes deep studies accessible and contemporary, adding a touch of irreverence that turns reading into a renewing experience.
Nadia has a very special connection with García Márquez's work. She grew up in the Colombian Caribbean, the world that inspired Macondo, and studied literature at the University of Cartagena. She then earned a PhD in Literature and Gender Studies at Rutgers University and continued working in the United States at Bowdoin College, where she teaches Caribbean literature and Latin American studies. Her focus on bodies, sexuality, and affects offers a fresh and unique interpretation of One Hundred Years of Solitude. If you've ever wondered how intimate relationships shape the social landscape and fuel cycles of violence in Macondo, and in the real world, Nadia is your perfect guide.
